Character Information
Name: Ahiru
Canon Origin/Series: Princess Tutu
School Year: Fourth Year
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Out of school living location: Near Sawrey, Lake District
Blood status: muggleborn, or at least she's pretty sure she is. She doesn't actually know much about her parents.

Personality:
Ahiru is incredibly naïve. She is rather clueless and a little stupid. She often acts without fully considering the consequences of her actions. Ahiru is excitable, and tends to speak first and think about what she's saying later, especially when she's flustered. Her stumbling through life seems to physically manifest in her extreme clumsiness (though this can also be attributed to the fact that she is really a duck who was turned into a girl) and in her inability to get anywhere on time (she is always either very late or very early.) Despite all this it is very hard to dislike Ahiru because she never does anything with malicious intent.

Ahiru is an incredibly selfless and trusting person. She will go above and beyond to protect the people she loves and even people she has just met. Ahiru puts her heart into everything does and always means well. More than that she is incredibly, stubbornly loyal. If Ahiru thinks of you as a friend, if she sees some good in you, then nothing will change her mind. She will always support, and believe in her friends even if they can't seem to believe in themselves anymore.

Ahiru will do anything for her friends, even if it puts her own life at risk. She is selfless to the point of almost seeming to have no self preservation instinct. It isn't that she doesn't value her own life or that she wants to get hurt, its just that she doesn't think. She gets so focused on the well being of others that she forgets to take care of herself. Ahiru for all her optimism, is often plagued by insecurity. Though she can always believe in others sometimes she loses faith in her own abilities. For nearly the entire series Ahiru is plagued by insecurities over her own identity and about who she really is (due to her ability to switch between three distinctly different forms, not only in appearance but also in their abilities.) By the end of the series she accepts that her true self is a duck, and returns to this form. Coming to the carnival will reawaken her old doubts. As she struggles between her belief that sooner or later she will have to return to her true form, and her desire to remain a girl she will have to discover what it really means to be your true self. Originally her fear of returning to her duck form was in part due to her larger fear of being forgotten. Ahiru's greatest fear is that she will be forgotten, and left alone. For all her faults and insecurities Ahiru is a good person. Her naivety, and brashness are tempered by her selflessness, kindness, and her ability to see the good in everyone.

For as long as Ahiru can remember she's lived with her aunt at their bed and breakfast, The Jewel. Ahiru would spend her days doing her best to help around The Jewel (which usually meant mopping up, and generally doing odd jobs that in no way involved cooking, or breakable dishes) swimming, and playing with the other children in the village. Unfortunately for Ahiru there weren't exactly a great deal of other children around (most of them much older or younger than herself), and most of the ones she did make friends with were usually only there on holiday, come with their parents to see the old home of Beatrix Potter. Despite this Ahiru was a very happy child who never let the lack of human playmates (she was quite popular among the local farm animals and the family of ducks that lived on the lake) get her down for too long.

When Ahiru's Hogwarts letter arrived she and her aunt were both shocked (well Ahiru was shocked, her aunt was merely surprised, though that was a feat in and of itself.) It did explain quite a number of odd occurrences that had happened over the years though, and so the pair accepted the news with relative ease.

How would your character fit in to each House?

Gryffindor: Ahiru would get along quite well among the Gryffindors. She's a firm believer in honor and integrity and will always do her best to do the right thing. There are a number of things Ahiru is afraid of, but true courage isn't the absence of fear, it is the ability to act despite that fear, and that Ahiru does have. If it means helping her friends or doing the right thing then Ahiru will swallow her fear and do what she has to do.

Hufflepuff: Ahiru is ridiculously loyal to her friends. If she sees some good in someone, and comes to consider them a friend she will go to the ends of the earth for them. Ahiru isn't really naturally gifted at most things related to school, but she does make up for it by being an incredibly hard worker. She puts her all into everything she does, even if she doesn't always show up quite on time.

Ravenclaw: While Ahiru doesn't have a whole lot in the way of common sense she does put in the effort to study. Not really sure anyone would call her clever without sarcasm being involved though...

Slytherin: Ahiru would probably crash and burn if put in Slytherin to be completely honest. She is the last person you would ever call cunning, the words naive, oblivious, and trusting all fitting her much more accurately. She isn't ambitious for ambition's sake, and while she'll certainly work to get the things she wants she's much more likely to put the needs of others before her own.
